Pinnacle Action Studio

I'm only 15, and don't have much money at all. I have an analog camcorder and want a piece of hardware to put the video on my computer, and want good software. Pinnacle is supposed to be good, but how good?

We used to use Pinnacle's DC10+ on first three projects we edited on a PC. The hardware is affordable, and the software is adequete for analog capture. One thing
I would strongly recommend is buying a secong harddrive that you can dedicate to your footage. Make sure you get a 7200 RPM drive, though. Otherwise, you'll run into problems with dropped frames during the capture process.

I don't know much about the software that they're currently bundling with the capture card, but we outgrew the eitor that was packaged with the card almost immediately. The program was designed for vacation videos, etc., not for telling a story.

I guess the point is that Pinncle will do the job from a hardware persoective, but take a ood look at the features in the editing software and see if it will be enough to help you produce your story.

6 months ago i would have reccomended pinnacle, the DC10+ is a great card.... i have one and use it for all my films.... but recently i upgraded to WinXp and am going through HELL trying to find out when the drivers are coming out. the pinnacle action studio is a USB device, and i bought a similar device at first from belkin (before i bought the DC10+) but it was awful, low resolution capture, jerky frame rate and ?80 of pure crap. so the bottom line is, if you have windows 98 or below, then the pinnacle DC10+ is good, but if you have XP.... try something from dazzle... theres my view.
